Optimising academic performance (MCCI Business School)

As students prepare for the upcoming exam season, the importance of effective stress management cannot be overstated. The recent MCCI Stress Management session provided valuable insights and tools designed to help students navigate the pressures of their academic responsibilities. The discussion emphasised the significant impact that unmanaged stress can have on mental and physical health, leading to issues such as anxiety, depression, and obesity. Conversely, effective stress management can facilitate personal growth and development.

The session addressed several common challenges encountered by students:

  • Anxiety about Future Uncertainties
  • A Dichotomy Between ‘Who you are’ and ‘Whom you want to become’
  • Finding Clarity in Life’s Purpose
  • Maintaining Healthy Lifestyle Habits For Overall Well-being

During the inner well-being segment, participants explored practical techniques for managing their emotions. These strategies empower students to regulate both the physiological and psychological aspects of their experiences, fostering harmony between body and mind. By enhancing self-awareness and concentration, these techniques contribute to improved academic performance. The session underscored that consistently applying these practices over a six-month period can help students overcome conditioned behaviors that may impede their progress, allowing for greater engagement in the present moment.

A simple yet effective practices were introduced, which students can easily incorporate into their daily routines. This practice equips them to navigate challenging situations more effectively and channel their emotions constructively, thereby enhancing overall well-being.

The discussion also focused on the distractions that can diminish concentration, such as the unconscious use of social media and digital devices, as well as unconscious eating habits. These distractions often lead to a lack of clarity and concentration, hindering academic performance. Students gained insights into how to enhance their perception by elevating their awareness.
