It’s early, and the sun has risen. At 6:45 am, a group of us meets at Malenga View Point, ready for a morning that promises more than just a walk—it’s an opportunity to ground ourselves. We begin the day with a simple yet responsible task: picking up litter. It’s not just about cleaning the environment; it’s about taking responsibility and making our walk more purposeful. Every piece of waste we collect is a small reminder of how by taking care of the world around us we actually take care of ourselves. As we clear the path, we also clear our minds.

By 7:00 am, we take off our shoes, feel the earth beneath our feet, and start our walk through the lush, green landscape of Malenga, located at the foot of Peter Both Mountain. Walking barefoot on the earth isn’t just reenergising—it’s grounding. Each step encourages us to slow down and truly be present. As we walk, we regulate our breath, breathing deeply and letting the fresh air clear our minds, while our tension naturally melts away. Being away from screens and digital distractions helps us reconnect with ourselves. Walking this way, with our minds and bodies in sync, brings clarity. Any worries or challenges we might have carried with us feel smaller, easier to manage. The earth beneath our feet reminds us of our connection to nature and helps us feel more grateful for the simple act of just being present.

After a peaceful walk through the hills of Malenga, at 7.40 am we gather at the rotunda, a quiet space with a picturesque view. Here, we take part in sound therapy, guided by an expert instructor. The sounds and vibrations help us relax, clear our minds from clutter, and bring our attention to the present moment. The experience leaves us feeling lighter, calmer, and more aware of ourselves and the world around us.

When the session is over, at 8.10 am we head to the Abhyas Centre for a nourishing Satvic breakfast. The food here is fresh, wholesome, light, and prepared with love. Eating in this way helps us feel better physically and mentally. It’s a reminder that food can be a tool for our well-being.

To wrap up the morning, we take a moment to say hello to the cows. We feed them some bananas, give them a gentle pat, and enjoy their quiet company. Taking time to care for the animals and connect with them helps us feel more grounded, peaceful, and grateful. Their calm presence reminds us to slow down and appreciate the little moments.

As the morning comes to an end, we feel refreshed and ready for whatever the day holds. The walk, the sounds, the food, and the animals have all helped us reconnect with ourselves and nature, leaving us feeling centred and recharged. We step into the rest of the weekend with a sense of clarity and calm, ready to face any challenges ahead with a grounded and peaceful mind. And so, with lighter steps and fuller hearts, we carry the stillness and simplicity of the morning with us as we move through the day.

I am incredibly grateful for this experience. My first day here was amazing, and I will be taking so much back home with me. I especially enjoyed the morning meditation—it was a wonderful opportunity to slow down and approach life more calmly. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we often forget to take our time and move at our own pace. This experience reminded me of the importance of living mindfully. I would highly encourage everyone to come, meet these lovely people, and participate in these enriching activities.

Walking through different paths—concrete, natural grass, and earth—served as a powerful reminder of the diverse avenues and challenges we face in life. It wasn’t just a physical activity; it became a practice of introspection, helping me recognize my own weaknesses, both mentally and physically. Step by step, the walk taught me to navigate these challenges with awareness and mindfulness. It was a transformative and deeply enriching experience.
