The sun has risen, and at 6:45 am, members of the community begin to gather at the Abhyas Centre, ready to spend the morning connecting with nature, learning about gardening, and grounding themselves in the simple act of planting. It’s a time to connect with one another and with the earth.

By 7:00 am before we dive into the day's activities, we start with some grounding breathing practices guided by our expert instructors. This helps to synchronise our minds and bodies, centering us in the present moment.

Once more present, we begin with a short talk by our expert instructor on the benefits of gardening. We learn how planting not only nourishes the environment but also brings personal well-being. The act of caring for plants helps reduce stress, improves our mood, and fosters a deeper connection to the natural world. We hear how gardening can be a powerful tool for mental and emotional healing, promoting balance and clarity as we engage with the earth’s cycles of growth and renewal.

By 7:20 am, it’s time to begin the gardening part of the workshop. As we walk barefoot on the soil, we allow ourselves to connect directly with the earth. There’s something powerful about feeling the soil beneath us, the coolness of the earth, and the texture of the ground as it moves between our toes. With each step, we feel more connected to the planet, more rooted. Our instructor guides us to touch the soil with our hands, allowing the earth’s energy to flow through us. As we work the soil, we feel the negative emotions and stress of daily life begin to melt away. The earth has a way of drawing out the heaviness, leaving us lighter, calmer, and more grounded.

As we dig into the earth, we’re reminded of how deeply interconnected we are with the environment. The plants we’re planting today—flowers, herbs, and trees—will grow, breathe, and help nourish the world around them. In turn, these plants help sustain us, providing us with the oxygen we need to live and grow. This cycle of life, growth, and nourishment is a reminder that we are part of something much bigger than ourselves. We depend on the environment, and in caring for it, we care for ourselves.

Once the planting is complete, we take a moment to water the plants. Each of us carefully waters the young plants, gently nourishing them to help them grow strong and healthy. This simple act of watering connects us further to the process, reminding us that growth takes time, care, and attention. It also helps foster a sense of teamwork—together, we share the responsibility of ensuring the plants thrive. By working in unison, we strengthen our bond with each other and with the earth.

When the session is over, by 8:20 am, we head to the kitchen for a nourishing Satvic breakfast. The food here is fresh, wholesome, light, and prepared with love. Eating in this way helps us feel better physically and mentally. It’s a reminder that food can be a tool for our well-being.

To wrap up the morning, we take a moment to say hello to the cows. We feed them some bananas, give them a gentle pat, and enjoy their quiet company. Taking time to care for the animals and connect with them helps us feel more grounded, peaceful, and grateful. Their calm presence reminds us to slow down and appreciate the little moments.

As the morning comes to an end, we feel refreshed and ready for whatever the day holds. The walk, the sounds, the food, and the animals have all helped us reconnect with ourselves and nature, leaving us feeling centred and recharged. We step into the rest of the weekend with a sense of clarity and calm, ready to face any challenges ahead with a grounded and peaceful mind.

Today was an amazing experience. I connected with like-minded people and felt the warmth and loving kindness from everyone, which was truly fantastic. Sharing a simple meal, gathering for meditation, and just being in your presence was incredibly soothing and heartwarming. I am so grateful for this experience and so happy to have connected with all of you.

Today has been a truly beautiful experience in this serene environment, surrounded by the stunning garden and the breathtaking view of Lalaura. I visited the Abhyas Centre to participate in the yoga class and explore sattvic cooking and eating, and I feel so blessed to have been part of this. Together with the community, we engaged in gardening, cooking, and meaningful connections with incredible souls. My first experience of gardening was particularly memorable—walking barefoot in the mud was deeply grounding. The people here are amazing and welcoming, and the teachers are always smiling and helpful. I encourage everyone to visit the centre, experience what they offer, and discover the joy and warmth of this space.

Today was a beautiful and unexpected experience for me. My curiosity led me here, and I’m so glad it did. This morning, I returned to a place within myself that I don’t visit often—a state of calm and stillness, away from the busyness of life. It was a deeply calming and enriching experience. Connecting with others, exchanging thoughts, and discovering this beautiful community dedicated to serving others felt truly aligned with my own life’s purpose. I’m so grateful for this experience.

The peaceful atmosphere and fresh morning air set a positive tone for the day. The breathing exercises were transformative, as I immediately felt an improvement in my breathing capacity and became more aware of it. The experience was both soothing and grounding. When we moved on to gardening, it felt surprisingly energizing rather than tiring, which I believe was a result of the breathing practice. Overall, it was a truly refreshing and grounding experience.
