Creating a Harmonious Workplace
We may find ourselves in a very chaotic environment and want to change that environment in order to feel inner peace. But no matter how hard we try to change everything outside, we just can’t — we end up burning ourselves out because we can’t control outside circumstances.
What is happening is that our body and mind are not in the right place — they are not on the same page. Our emotions have taken over our thoughts, and our actions are dictated by our emotions. Whenever something doesn’t happen according to us, we become very rattled, angry, and we try to control the situation or people. We end up feeling weak and succumb to the pressure of our emotions and the situation because we can’t make sense of it.
What we need to do is take our attention inward and introspect on the inner changes we need to make in order to bring our body and mind into synchronicity. Then, and only then, will there be harmony. We need to create a gap between our emotions and thoughts. Once emotions have subsided, there will be clarity of thought, and we will be able to navigate through any life situation with attentiveness and inner calm. We will be able to face challenges and chaotic situations with poise and inner stillness, without being affected physiologically or psychologically. When our mind and body come to this state of synchronicity, we will have absolute discernment about how to conduct ourselves in each situation most judiciously.
Once we have resolved inner conflict, the outer conflict will cease to exist. For this, there is a process — and it requires us to turn inward and apply transformative tools and conscious practices daily to make a shift within. Our breath has the power to transmute our emotions and channel them constructively, turning around our thought process in such a way that we change our perspective and see the situation from a different vantage point.
This transformative process can take us from a very habit-bound existence to a consciously led life. It all depends on us — how we are orienting ourselves towards our own inner wellbeing. By taking charge of our own lives and allowing ourselves to go through this process, we become a completely different human being altogether. We become more calm, poised, and resilient. We become someone we never thought was possible. And by the virtue of undergoing these inner changes — creating harmony within ourselves — we create harmony in the workplace.
