Imagine stepping into a day that nourishes not just your body but your mind. Set against the tranquil backdrop of the Abhyas Centre, this immersive experience invites you to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and embrace the healing power of conscious cooking and conscious living.
The day begins with a grounding meditation session, allowing you to clear mental clutter and become centered before diving into the immersive Sattvic Cooking workshop. You’ll be introduced to the art of Sattvic cooking—a practice that emphasizes fresh, wholesome ingredients to promote balance, clarity, and mental well-being. Through hands-on participation, you’ll create nourishing dishes like poha, chutney, and dry fruit laddoos, each infused with care, intention, and love.
Before enjoying the meal, you’ll take a moment for conscious eating, reflecting on the gratitude and nourishment each bite offers. You’ll also extend your practice of mindfulness by feeding the animals, connecting with the cows and dogs, fostering a sense of harmony with all living beings.
By the time the day concludes, you’ll feel deeply rejuvenated and grounded, having experienced the therapeutic power of food, community, nature, and self-awareness. It’s about embracing a holistic lifestyle that encourages mindfulness, sustainability, and a deeper connection with yourself and the world around you.
Begin with a simple yet meaningful act: walking barefoot on the earth, feeling its grounding energy beneath your feet. As you take in the fresh mountain air and vibrant surroundings, you’ll find yourself letting go of stress and rediscovering a sense of calm and clarity.
The experience continues with sound therapy, a deeply relaxing practice that clears mental clutter and harmonizes your inner energy, leaving you feeling lighter, focused, and present. At 6:45 am, the doors of the Abhyas Centre are open, welcoming everyone with warm smiles. It’s a time to connect with fellow community members, share in the anticipation of the day ahead, and prepare ourselves for a nourishing experience.

By 7:00 am, our expert instructor is ready to guide us through the meditation practice in preparation for the Sattvic Cooking workshop. We become more calm and centred as all accumulated tension melts away.

By 7:30 am, the cooking demonstration begins. The menu for the day is announced—perhaps it’s poha with coriander chutney, dahlia with halva, or dry fruit laddoos. Each dish promises to be as nourishing as it is delicious. But what makes this experience truly special is the collective effort. Everyone takes part in the preparation, stirring, chopping, slicing, and sprinkling ingredients with love. It’s a reminder that the energy we put into our food is just as important as the food itself, bringing more warmth and quality to the meal. By 8:20 am, the dishes are ready, and our senses are awakened by the vibrant colours and fragrant smells. It’s not just the food that’s satisfying—it’s the shared experience of creating something together, of infusing it with intention and love.

Before we sit down to enjoy the meal, we take a moment to set aside a small portion for the cows and dogs as part of our conscious practices. Offering them a bit of what we’ve prepared helps us extend our gratitude and care to all beings.

Once the meal is prepared, our instructor takes a moment to explain the practice of conscious eating. We learn how to slow down, savour each bite, and be fully present with our food. Before we dive into the meal, we take a moment to express gratitude for the nourishing ingredients and the hands that prepared them. As we eat, we focus on conscious chewing, appreciating the textures and flavours, and allowing our bodies to properly digest and absorb the nutrients.

To wrap up the morning, we take a moment to say hello to the cows. We feed them some bananas, give them a gentle pat, and enjoy their quiet company. Taking time to care for the animals and connect with them helps us feel more grounded, peaceful, and grateful. Their calm presence reminds us to slow down and appreciate the little moments.

As the morning comes to an end, we feel refreshed and ready for whatever the day holds. The walk, the sounds, the food, and the animals have all helped us reconnect with ourselves and nature, leaving us feeling centred and recharged. We step into the rest of the weekend with a sense of clarity and calm, ready to face any challenges ahead with a grounded and peaceful mind.

My first experience here was a ‘Conscious Walking’ session at Peter Both, followed by meditation and barefoot walking on the way back. It made me realize how deeply connected we are to the earth—feeling the ground, the soil, and the present moment. Later, when we sat on the ground and ate with our hands, it was another eye-opening experience. I became more aware of the food I was eating and how I was eating it. Since then, I’ve started eating on the ground at home and really feeling the food in my hands. It changed my perspective on life. It reminded me that I’m human, that I’m here in this vast world, and that being present in the moment is so important. Life can be so hectic, and Abhyas helped me reconnect with myself and my surroundings. It has made a significant change in my life, and I keep coming back because I continue to learn and grow here.

This event was very interesting. You know, in our daily lives, the way we eat and live, I think I learned a lot of good things today. Through Dr. Sharma, I believe I will try to implement these changes in my life. In today's world, it's very important to pay attention to our food habits, and I have personally experienced that. I try to follow these practices but sometimes I fail, but I think events like this inspire everyone.

It was a wonderful experience because we already knew a bit about it, but we learned more in a new way that will positively impact our health—both mind and body. We're grateful for the invitation and highly recommend others to come and listen; it’s very helpful. For me, I'm glad to be here, invited by my best friend. It’s been a great experience learning how to use food to benefit our health. We are now much more conscious about what we eat.
